Arbutus Grove has been investing in the natural resource and renewable energy industries since 2005. In addition to providing growth capital, Arbutus Grove provides management, technical and financial advisory services to start-ups through to later stage, revenue-generating companies. In particular, the Company has significant expertise structuring reverse takeovers (or “RTOs”) and related “go public” transactions on the TSX, TSX Venture Exchange, CSE, NYSE AMEX and ASX markets, and providing management and board expertise to public and private companies.
Mr. Lindsay has in excess of 30 years experience in corporate finance, investment banking and business development in both North America and Asia, and is currently the Managing Director of Arbutus Grove Capital Corp.
Mr. Lindsay began his career in Hong Kong with The Pacific Rim Group, a company focused on venture capital and the provision of market entry services, entrepreneurial counselling, company secretarial and accounting services. During this period, he was a Founder of OneAsia.com (Holdings) Ltd. and helped develop the business from inception to the establishment of offices in Hong Kong, Taipei, Mumbai and Vancouver, and was instrumental in the sale of the business to Tom Group Limited (FEHK:2383) in 2001. Following this tenure, he joined the Corporate Finance and Investment Banking Group at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP as a Vice President, focused on mid-market mergers and acquisitions.
He has over 20 years of direct experience in the natural resources sector, firstly as a founding Director of Malaspina Capital Ltd., where he led its merger with Miranda Mining Development Corp (a Mexico-based gold producer that was subsequently acquired by Wheaton River Minerals in 2003). Additionally, Mr. Lindsay was the Founder, President and CEO of Magnum Uranium Corp. and led its development through to a sale to Energy Fuels Inc. (TSX: EFR) in July 2009. Subsequently, he founded Otis Gold Corp., where he led its development as CEO from the acquisition of the Kilgore Gold Project via direct staking, developed one million ounce gold resource, completed a Preliminary Economic Assessment and completed the sale of the company to Excellon Resources Ltd. (TSX:EXN). Additionally, he completed an RTO of Electric Royalties Ltd (TSXV:ELEC), where he was recently appointed as Chair of the Board of Directors. Electric Royalties has a portfolio of over 40 royalties in the battery metals sector. Mr. Lindsay is currently completing an RTO of US-based gold, antimony and tungsten project with an ASX-listed company.
He also has significant experience with renewable energy, and led the RTO of Philippine Metals Inc. with Revolve Renewable Power Corp (TSXV: REVV). Revolve is actively developing a portfolio of wind, solar and battery storage projects located in Mexico, Canada and the United States, and Mr. Lindsay remains an active director and Chair of the Audit Committee.
He has significant public company board and audit committee experience, and currently sits on the boards of Revolve Renewable Power Corp. (TSXV:REVV), Excellon Resources Ltd (TSXV:EXN), Electric Royalties Ltd (TSXV:ELEC), VR Resources Ltd. (TSXV:VRR) and Silver North Resources Ltd. (TSXV: SNAG).
He has been active in his community as a Past Chairman of the Family Services of Greater Vancouver (the largest social service agency in British Columbia), Past Chairman of the Hong Kong – Canada Business Association (HKCBA) and a Past President and current Director of the Vancouver Section of the HKCBA. Additionally, he coached Little League Baseball in Vancouver for ten years, and served on the Western Leadership Council of Dalhousie University’s successful $250 million “Bold Ambitions” capital campaign. Mr. Lindsay is currently the Chairman of the Board of Governors of Crofton House School, an independent, all-girl school with an enrolment of 940 students.
Mr. Lindsay has a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) from UBC (1989), an MBA (Finance and International Business) from Dalhousie University (1993) and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
